Llanerfyl bridge
At the western end of the village of Llanerfyl, Montgomeryshire
Llanerfyl bridge carries the A458 between Llanfair Caereinion and Mallwyd over the River Banwy. While it is a fine structure, its two semi-circular high stone arches lack the ornamentation – prominent keystones and voussoirs – often associated with Penson and suggest an early date, probably early 1820s. It replaced a timber bridge and itself required strengthening in the post-Penson era.
