Llanfechain bridge

In the middle of the village of Llanfechain, Montgomeryshire

Llanfechain bridge is in the centre of the village of Llanfechain over the River Cain, a tributary of the Vyrnwy. It is thought to have been built before Penson’s time but was largely rebuilt after floods in 1848. It consists of two unequal and different shaped arches, the larger being elliptical with stone voussoirs, the smaller more rounded and, unusually, built of brick. Both arches have the hallmark Penson prominent keystones.
